Revealing the alter ego to the ATS-V Coupe, Cadillac recently unveiled the ATS-V.R. The new ATS-V.R. is Cadillac’s entrant into the 2015 motorsports season. Replacing the V8 powered CTS-VR, which has now been retired, the new ATS-V.R. is sporting a power plant variant of the Cadillac’s 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. Cadillac shared that there have been several changes to the setup of the ride which will allow for a more competitive 2015 season.

Some of the modifications include completely redesigned front fenders that accommodates the FIA-mandated tire sizes, a new under tray that has been put into place that will reduce drag and lift sending air beneath the car to the rear diffuser, and a complete aerodynamic kit with carbon fiber front splitter for an aggressive stance.

Cadillac has also continued with performance enhancements with the use of a lightweight aluminum block and heads that are counterbalanced by a rear transaxle resulting in a nicely balanced distribution of weight, with almost an even split of 49% going to the front and 51% placed at the rear. Sure to improve overall performance we can expect this to help when cornering this beast on the race circuit.

At full power the newly enhanced ATS-V.R. is throwing down an angry 600 Horsepower to the pavement. “The Cadillac ATS-V.R. is a 170-mph billboard for the next generation of Cadillac’s V-Series,” said driver Johnny O’Connell. “On top of its power, its aerodynamic package should pay off in the fast corners and I’m looking forward to unleashing it.”With many new performance gadgets put into place, including for the first time paddle gear shifters, Cadillac is stepping up their game as contenders for the 2015 motorsports season.
