TCI/Magnaflow Mustang to Represent 1967 Model Year in SEMA Exhibit

tci_mustangThis year marks the 50th birthday for the Ford Mustang and to celebrate, the Specialty Equipment Market Association will have a special celebration display in the iconic Ford’s honor at the 2014 SEMA Show next month. While we’re excited to see the display in its entirety, we couldn’t help but notice that our friends over at TCI Engineering will be honored in the display with their classic Mustang having been chosen to represent the 1967 model year!

tci_mustang_3The 1967 Mustang set to be in the special display was built as a collaboration between Total Cost Involved and Magnaflow, making its debut to the automotive world at last year’s SEMA Show. Lucky for us, we got to spend some time with the car and its creators to get all the nitty gritty details that make it so special.

Thanks to TCI, the Mustang features a unique four link panhard bar rear suspension that can actually be monitored in real time for suspension travel differences. This allows the driver and his team to actually monitor the bound and rebound motion of the shocks to pinpoint when the car is being maxed out, at which point they can stop, adjust the spring rates accordingly and then get back into competition.

In the front, the Mustang runs also runs TCI components with a custom independent suspension setup.

Other notable components on the car include 14-inch Wilwood brakes, Billet Specialties LeMans wheels, Michelin shoes, a 427ci Ford small block engine good for 460hp, a Tremec T-56 Magnum transmission and a Currie 9-inch rearend. Of course, having also had Magnaflow be part of its build, the Mustang also features a custom Magnaflow exhaust system.

The TCI/Magnaflow ’67 Mustang will join 49 other Mustangs, one for every model year, in the Ford display at SEMA. Be sure to check it out if you’re going to the show this year and stay tuned for our coverage of the event right here!
