Recently Chrysler stole the thunder from GM at their own Chevrolet Performance Nationals, with their debut of the 2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. This arctic white big tired musclecar stirred up quite the media buzz as it shot off the line like a bullet fired from a .44. The Challenger’s white paint job, shaker hood, Hoosier drag tires and rumbling Hemi make it look, sound and perform like the super stock drag cars of the good ol’ days.
Designed with inspiration from 1960’s Super Stock drag racing, an all aluminum fuel injected 426 Hemi mill resides under the lid. The Hemi is mated to a 727 automatic transmission with a modified valve body shifter. Don’t expect to find any touch screens or heated seats in the interior. This is a race car which means it has a spartan made up of only two racing seats, harnesses, safety nets and a roll cage. Helping the Drag Pak launch and grip on the strip is a suspension made up of K-members and struts up from and a four link set up with panhard bar adjustable rear shocks to adjust the car for different strip conditions.
For now Chrysler is keeping their mouth shut about the Drag Pak’s specs until it gets an official seal of approval from the NHRA. As you can see from the video the car’s ET was not clocked. If anyone wants to have a little fun, play the home version of Pass Time and guess what you think the ET of the Challenger Drag Pak is and guess the horsepower specs.
