Jody may have uncovered a lost piece of drag racing history: a blue 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback with a large motor sticking out of the engine bay . This large motor is not a 427, a 428 or a 460, but instead a Chrysler 426 Hemi.
Why would a classic Mustang be powered by a Hemi? Judging from the pictures it looks as if this Mustang has been sitting for years. It may have been a drag car in it’s heyday in the 1960s and ’70s. During this era a few Chevy and Ford owners swapped Hemis into their cars due to their massive power.
This Stallion could have been a local legend at the drag strip and on the street back in its time. This is a legend that deserves to be on the road on again; the body looks to be in great shape with no visible dents and only minor surface rust. As expected for car left in the elements the blue paint is faded and the windshield is cracked. The car is missing a few of its parts, but those are replaceable.
Sadly, it might be a while before this Mustang touches pavement again, as the owner chased Jody away and said the car was not for sale. Have any of you been chased away from a barn findĀ recently? Also what car was the local racing legend when you were young?
