The best way to have a sweet hot rod that not only looks awesome but has the power behind it, is to build it yourself at home. Building a custom hot rod allows you to build exactly what you want to make it that one of a kind car. This will also let you work at your own pace that greatly helps your budget. Hot Rodding has been around forever and as the scene continues to grow the more unusual custom rides you will see.

We came across a sweet one of a kind home built hot rod that is based off a 1933 Ford over at Bangshift.com [2]

The owner, named “Arrowhead” on the forum, started on the Ford in May of 2009. He started with installing the engine that came out of a Lincoln Mark VIII 4.6 DOHC and got a good feel for the kind of fitment issues he will had to deal with. The engine had been fully built a few years back for use in another car, but since it’s a unique setup, he wanted to reuse this combo in the hot rod. On the top of the engine sits a huge custom blower to force-feed this engine some massive horsepower. Hooked up to the engine is a 4R70W transmission that was also from a Lincoln Mark VIII.

The frame of this ’33 is a complete custom-made tube chassis. The axles and rear come out of a 1996 Ford Mustang which gave it a five lug bolt pattern and 3.73 gears along with a set of disc brakes. Since the project is a complete custom build, the whole steering system had to be handmade along with the firewall.

After the car was complete and the engine was in place along with the exhaust system, the car was ready to roll on the street. Arrowhead drove it for a while in its pictured matte black paint scheme until deciding to pull the body off this past winter so he could paint the frame and all the body pieces. This car is near completion, so stay tune for final pictures.
