[1]The Pro-Touring scene not only has a big following with companies that manufacture suspension and performance components for cars that compete, but there’s a huge following when it comes to spectators, too. Pro-Touring is the combination of what we love about classic cars, road racing, and autocross all wrapped up into one awesome package.
[2]For the sixth year in a row, OPTIMA Batteries [3] is putting on the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational [4], and the event being held Pahrump, Nevada, promises to be just as spectacular as it was last year. Last year, by the way, sold out and and spectators were able to watch the best of the best, as well as up-and-comers, as they threw their cars around the cones, into the corners, and competed in other events that put man and machine to the test – with those who could both drive and stop their car with the ultimate in control.
[5]Last year, we saw the 1967 Camaro belonging to Mark Stielow take the win as the 2012 OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car, but he had some stiff competition by way of some equally impressive vehicles. We do see modern vehicles getting in on the competition, but many of the competitors bring old school iron beefed up with modern technology by way of engines, suspensions, transmissions and custom fabrication, all of which make the classic cars so popular in the Pro-Touring scene.
