Global RallyCross is a newish form of motorsport that pits competitors against each other in a course that is half rally, half asphalt, and all fun. And so far the dominating figure of Global RallyCross has been Tanner Foust and his Ford Fiesta, who have riden the wave of victories to first place in the past.
But it appears that Foust and the Fiesta finally have some real competition in the form of Travis Pastrana and the Dodge Dart. Pastrana was able to drive the world’s only rally Dart to first place this past weekend in Loudon, New Hampshire, reports ESPN Motorsports.
Pastrana entered the Global RallyCross season late, and his disappointing debut performance at the ESPN X-Games left many wondering if the Dart had what it takes. But Pastrana proved this past weekend with his first victory in the Dart that Chrysler can, and will, rise to the top of the RallyCross competition. And its a good thing too; the new Dart needs all the exposure it can get.
Pastrana led the pack of big-name drivers, with Sam Hubinette coming in second in a Saab 9-3 of all things. Bringing up the rear was Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust, and Ken Block, all of whom were driving Fiestas. Pastrana’s victory was hard earned, but he will need a lot more to put the Dart up on top for the season.
