Uniquely Built, LS-Powered ’69 Camaro And ’64 ‘Vette Up For Auction

The buying and selling of unique and rare vehicles is truly a sight to see. Once again, this weekend Barrett-Jackson is going full force, bringing you the best vehicles in the marketplace to one location for auction. Of course, we’ve already got the drop on some of the best Chevys crossing the block this weekend. If the two vehicles we have featured below are any indication of the caliber of remaining vehicles, this weekend’s auction will go down in the books.

Though both vehicles are LS-powered, their features are still dripping in Bowtie sophistication. Our first example is the thoroughly-documented “Project American Heroes” build, featuring a highly-refined and tastefully built ’69 Camaro featuring a 6-speed automatic. Next, the ’64 Corvette, complete with an LS engine swap and even a 5-speed Tremec. These two examples are only proof that with a late-model drivetrain and some very specific exterior and interior installs, any muscle car can cruise the streets in style.

“Project American Heroes, 69 Camaro”

The Project American Heroes Camaro is the second magazine-documented vehicle built by the publication. This project provides a unique, prestigious opportunity as it is documented in 6 issues of Super Chevy magazine and a special 100 page feature.

This Camaro was professionally built by Route 66 Motorsports in New Lenox, IL with parts provided by over 25 major automotive aftermarket manufacturers from a rendering by Eric Brockmeyer.

The car features a complete performance suspension from Detroit Speed and Engineering with mini-tub and quadra-link rear along with hydro-formed subframe front, sway bars and all related components. A Baer Brakes new 6P system provides exceptional stopping power with 13-inch rotors and 6-piston calipers. The LS7 based engine was built and tuned by Turnkey Engine Supply from a GMMG supplied block, Lunati rotating assembly, Comp Cams valvetrain, RHS heads and Weiand intake.

The TCI provided Turbo 400 transmission is backed by a Gearvendors overdrive unit for performance and mileage. The Bassani exhaust provides a free-flowing exhaust exit for spent gasses that gives a deep mellow tone. A Strange Engineering S60 rearend completes the driveline. The vehicle is new from the ground up with new glass, weather stripping, door panels, carpeting kit and interior components. There are so many options it can’t be listed here. With this vehicle comes complete rebuild documentation as well as pictures and featured magazines.

’64 Corvette Coupe

Imagine if Chevrolet had the technology in 1967 that they have today. Before you is that modern Corvette with all the right parts. This car started with a 1964 Corvette body and applied 1967 fiberglass to make it look like the infamous ’67 Corvette big block. Then it was covered in mirror-like Rally Red paint with a black stinger.

The body was then set down on a new Street Shop chassis with all modern Corvette suspension and drivetrain. This suspension provides a like new Corvette ride with all modern options including power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes. This chassis was completed with a 350hp LS2 engine and 5-speed Tremec transmission. The interior is covered in Al Knoch black interior with re-covered powered C5 Z06 seats. Other modern options include air conditioning, power windows, DANA 44 rear end and polyurethane bushings.

This Corvette has been professionally built with excellent attention to detail and everything is either new or restored with show quality standards in mind. This is not a trailer queen build, this Corvette was built to drive just like a new Corvette would and can be driven.
