Recently we brought you a story regarding a stolen 1966 Mustang taken from a family shop, Twisted Rod Customz, on April 10th in Old Fort, North Carolina. Owner Fred Sult has owned the classic Ford Mustang, worth $25,000, for about 12 years and the plan was to pass it down through the generations, next being his five-year-old grandson. At the time of the theft, the owner had yet to tell the boy about the car because he didn’t want to break his heart.
In the wee hours of that April morning, thieves rammed a vehicle through a locked garage door to get to the classic Mustang leaving nothing behind but some red paint on the top of the door. Neighbors called the family around 4 a.m. when they heard some suspicious activity coming from the direction of the shop.
According to Fox Carolina, the sentimental classic pony has been recovered from a wooded area, but the car has been heavily damaged and stripped for its parts. Two people are being sought after by McDowell police.
A man and a woman are wanted in connection to the theft, both with a criminal history. The two are already on the wanted list for different crimes in other counties, with the male also wanted in the state of Montana. Police are searching for a silver Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of either of these individuals is asked to contact the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 652-2235 or Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME.
