Rat rods are all the rage these days in rebellious response to the black-check hot rods that have overtaken so many car shows. With an ugly exterior but a powerful engine, rat rods are in many ways the perfect sleeper. While once reserved for the hot rodding sort, the rat rod mentality has oozed into the muscle car culture.
Vortech Superchargers shared this build by Luhn Performance. Called the “Rat Goat,” this ‘64 LeMans has been a work in progress, whose latest addition is, you guessed it, a Vortech supercharger.
Now Rat Goat may not look like much (though we are huge fans of the patina look), but once you pop the hood its clear that this car means business. The Vortech supercharged engine makes an estimated 1,000 horsepower, while being a perfectly street legal car. With the right gearing and transmission, the Rat Goat could hit speeds of up to 190 mph.
It’s not the kind of car that looks like it could chase down a Corvette ZR1, but it has just one mission in mind; the Texas Mile. This top-speed run brings out all the big boys and their shiny toys, and we don’t doubt that the Rat Goat will surprise more than a few people with its power and speed. Any guesses as it what it runs?
