Check out this commercial featuring the then-brand new Mustang Mach 1. The video shows the Mustang flying down a desert road in the middle of nowhere. It’s a Mustang that certainly demands the attention despite the scenery.

There were new models introduced in 1969 and one of those being the Ford Mustang Mach 1. It was available with one of the larger Ford engines 5.8-liter 351ci that put down 250 hp, or you could opt for 290 hp version. New in 1969 is the shaker scoop with a sweet hood cut out.

The interior featured a special interior trim, special carpet and high-backed bucket seats. The exterior of the Mach 1 featured a matte black hood with a non-functional hood scoop, however, the scoop was functional for the Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet. It also had hood pins, dual racing mirrors, special side stripe, pop-open gas cap, and chrome dual exhaust with quad tips. A “Handling Suspension” was also installed to help counteract the 55 extra pounds of sound deadner and insulation. The rear sloped all the way down to the back of the car leaving it trunkless.

The Mach came with a three-speed automatic or a four-speed manual transmission. The quarter mile-average time was 13.9 seconds and a trap speed of 103 miles per hour, with the 250 hp Mach 1 reached a top speed of 120 mph. It could go from 0-60 mph in a matter of 5.7 seconds; pretty impressive performance-wise but also looked sharp too. Driving a classic Mach 1 is guaranteed to grab eyes while taking her on out for a cruise.
