This 1984 C10 looks very rough, but just like the old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.”
The owner decided it was a fine time to go buy some new tires for his parts truck. Instead of simply tossing the old tires that had some minimal tread left, he proceeds to boil off the remaining part. This is the first indication that there’s more to this truck than meets the eye.
What you don’t know, is the truck is powered by a 5.3 liter LS motor that’s been fitted with an LS6 camshaft and bolted to a 4L80E trans. 3.73 gears and an Eaton posi unit finish off the rest of the drive train.
The owner ported the heads himself and had the truck thrown on a dyno for good measure. The engine made 329HP and 334 lb. ft. of torque. While the truck may look like an unrestored farm truck, this C10 can haul the hay and lay down a good time at the drag strip. Not too shabby of a set up if you ask us!
There is also videos of his dyno pulls and the actual install of the motor. We love that besides the wheel package on the truck it appears to be a stock sleeper. No flashy paint jobs or any other indications that this truck is packing an upgraded power plant.
