If you haven’t heard about the automotive awesomeness that is the 2013 Shelby GT500, drop everything you’re doing and go catch up on the details of Ford’s most powerful street Mustang ever. If you are already caught up on the important bits, like an official rating of 662 horsepower and 630 ft-lbs of torque and a top speed of over 200 mph, well get ready to see the new Shelby in action on a world famous race track.
We are talking of course about Germany’s Nurburgring, the go-to track for developing and fine-tuning supercars from across the world. This video from Motor Authority shows.
Even in the wet conditions, the driver has no problem laying into the accelerator and letting loose the snarling growl of the 5.8 liter supercharged V8. Painted in the classic Shelby combination of white with blue stripes, this 2013 Shelby GT500 exhibits remarkably tame driving manners for a 662 horsepower sports car driving on a wet track.
And it sounds SO good. Later on in the video the track appears to have dried out, and we can really hear the Shelby opening up on the straightaways. Ford really got this sendoff for the retro Mustang right. How do they plan on outdoing themselves with the next generation of Mustangs? Whatever they do, the Nurburgring is sure to be a part of the testing.
