When the 2015 SRT Hellcat Challenger pricing was revealed “accidentally” on social media, everyone jumped on the chance to share that the most powerful musclecar ever was just under $60,000. There was still the debate about the Charger, and what we were going to see for pricing, power, speed, quarter mile times, etc., and as they were slowly revealed to us all we found it quite incredible that the heavier Charger SRT Hellcat would not only beat its Challenger sibling in the quarter mile, but also in 0-60 mph and top speed.
But the Charger gained more than just weight over the slightly smaller Challenger: it gained wind tunnel engineering which allowed it to best the Challenger’s 199 mph by 5, making it the fastest sedan in the world. The Challenger SRT Hellcat held the title of most powerful musclecar for just a short time, as well as retaining the fastest times, because when the figures were released the Charger took over those milestones for Dodge.
With the Charger Hellcat beating out the Challenger in speed and quickness, it was inevitable that it had to lose at something other than the weight category (it’s only 100 pounds heavier than the Challenger Hellcat). The pricing for the Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today via Chrysler Communications that the retail price is just a few thousand more, coming in at $63,995 (plus $995 destination charge).
Dodge and SRT have been making waves all summer long, and giving their Chevrolet and Ford counterparts a run for their money. As we said before, these are exciting times and we welcome this century’s version of the horsepower wars! We can’t wait to see what the competition brings to the table.
