Have you ever dreamed of finding a “barn car?” You know, one of those cars that have been stored, and probably forgotten about, in a family barn just waiting for you to find?
The ultimate dream, typically, is to find a very rare car, very well maintained car or a car so cheap you feel like you’re stealing it.
The Trans Am barn car in this video is a completely original SD car, or Super Duty. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it means that the car was equipped with a Super Duty 455cui engine. These cars are rare because not many of them were made. In fact, only 252 made their way off the factory assembly line.
The one found in the Ojai, California barn was an automatic, one of only 180 made. Not only is the engine original to this car, so is the exterior paint, honeycomb wheels and the buckskin interior. Only 49,000 original miles appeared on the odometer when the Trans Am was found.
The ‘73 Trans Am was stored in a barn for 27 years before it was found. Although rather dirty, the car was in remarkable shape. The video shows the car as it sat when it was found, showcasing some of its rare and original features. Unfortunately, the cost of the barn car was not disclosed in the video but we can only hope that the person who found it got a great deal.
According to the information included with the three-year-old video, the Trans Am was sold to a new owner in 2010. The car was sold as it was found, the only thing done to it being a thorough detail.
What an incredible barn find! This video serves as a reminder that no matter how unlikely, it is still possible to find an incredible barn car. Here’s to happy hunting!
