When it comes to car chase scenes in movies, one of the most well know is the chase in the 1968 movie Bullitt. Known for its length, amazing muscle cars and awe factor, the down-right impressive chase through the streets of San Francisco is a favorite of car enthusiasts of all ages. While you may be now playing the scene in your head, or running for your DVD player, we found a clip of the iconic scene on Hooniverse to share with you. However, this is not exactly the chase from the movie, rather it is a perfect remake of the chase done in 1/32 scale.
Obviously you can’t go wrong with a ‘68 Mustang Fastback chasing a ‘68 440cui Dodge Charger around busy city streets. Top it off with some sharp turns, jumps and high speeds, and you’ve got us hooked. Do it in 1/32 scale, and we’re even more interested.
While a 1/32-scale version of the chase may sound a bit strange, we were impressed with just how detailed the new remake is, although its just a fraction of the size of the real thing. The full version of the Bullitt car chase remake isn’t available yet, but the teaser clip proves to capture the iconic chase to the tee- complete with a 1/32-scale Detective Bullitt played by Steve McQueen.
If you want to see the whole small-scale chase, you’re going to have to wait until next February for its release. In the meantime, check out the clip below and try not to wear out your Bullitt DVD comparing the 1/32-scale chase to the real one.
