“Quantity has a quality all its own” is a famous quote often attributed to communist leader Joseph Stalin. And when it comes to burnouts, how else do you determine the overall awesomeness of the tire shredding if not by the amount of smoke it produces? Genaral rule: The more smoke, the better. However, sometimes a burnout goes above and beyond what most of us even think is possible.
Though we rarely feature truck specific items, let alone a Duramax diesel, we couldn’t help but showcase this video. This next video comes to us from the steady hand of Garrett Pyskaty, who caught his friend Steve Gullitti committing radial tire murder in his diesel Chevy at a hillside car show.
Proving its not the length of your mod list that matters, Gullitti’s truck is a fairly stock, 2007 Chevy 2500HD diesel Duramax. Besides a straight-pipe, shift kit, and tune, this Chevy pickup is more work truck award winner. But with some old rubber on the rear wheels, Gullitti knew before he started that these tires were not coming home in one piece.
It doesn’t take long for smoke to start spitting out of the back end, and within 30 seconds the whole truck is obscured in shredding rubber. We can almost smell it. At one point he stops briefly, and the crowd thinks he is done…but no. Not until both tires are popped. This is a pretty epic burnout as far as burnouts go, and we give Steve and his diesel HD our shredded rubber stamp of approval.
