As long as Detroit is going to continue in the horsepower wars, enthusiasts are going to ask the inevitable question: who is faster? Those enthusiasts, of course, include the manufacturers themselves – who can forget the debate that then SRT CEO Ralph Gilles was having with Chevrolet over the Laguna Seca track times of the Corvette and the Viper?
Those debates may have started at the top, but they certainly didn’t stop there, and while we’ve seen a few Viper/Corvette videos, we’ve also seen the comparison of the new 2015 Hellcat Challenger with it’s girthy 4,400 pounds being compared to the C7 Corvette’s 3,300 pounds even though the two cars aren’t even in the same class.
Since the Camaro has been unable to claim a stake in the horsepower wars, the Z06 seems to have stepped in as the battle du jour on a few occasions. The Hellcat isn’t about Laguna Seca or Nürburgring – it’s all about the power and quarter mile times that put it at the top of the pack, so the likely contender to knock it down had to be the Z06.
With the 2015 Corvette Z06 putting up a very hefty 650 supercharged horsepower itself, there are videos showing up of this Bowtie beast hitting the 1320 as well. The numbers are coming back as impressive as the Hellcat, too, with Chevrolet’s claim of 11.2 seconds in the quarter mile. And since the horsepower wars are taking the internet by storm, it was only natural to see a pair of enthusiast hitting the streets with these two aforementioned musclecars asking the very same question that the bosses were asking: who is faster?
In the video above from YouTuber Stance Autoworks, the pairing up of these two leaders answered the question, for now at least. It seems that the Hellcat is going to remain the champ in this latest romp and as the title of the video suggests it annihilates the 2015 Z06 Corvette.
Just like the question we asked about the Viper and the Z06 a month ago, we want to know what you think: are these two capable drivers pairing up and showing who is the boss? Or do we have an experienced driver lining up with an inexperienced driver, leaving it an open-ended question? Your guess is as good as ours, but at least in video it does seem that the Hellcat is ready for its next victim. Any takers?
