With Paul Walker’s tragic accident on November 30, 2013, it was a tough time for many. Fans mourned the loss of a fellow gearhead who loved cars and helped promote them in his films, Hollywood mourned the loss of a talented actor and big part of the Fast & Furious franchise, and his family – both in the movies and in his personal life – lost someone very significant and close to them.

It was initially rumored that the next installment of the franchise may not continue after a brief hiatus, however it was eventually announced that Furious 7 would proceed. As Hollywood always says “the show must go on”, and though some fans felt that there wasn’t enough time to mourn the loss others knew that Walker would have wanted his friends to go on without him because it was something that he loved.

However, that left the producers of the already in progress Furious 7 with a dilemma that needed a solution. Since many scenes had already been shot with Walker, they had enough footage to maintain Walker’s character throughout the rest of the movie. But this is Hollywood, and all scenes are not shot in order – some of Walker’s scenes were at the beginning and other scenes were towards the end of the movie.

Hollywood needed to figure out how to complete the rest of the scenes for Brian O’Conner without Paul Walker. The Fast and Furious theme is all about family, and that tradition continued when it was decided by the production crew to bring in Walker’s two brothers, Cody and Caleb, to help out with the remaining scenes. Through the magic of Hollywood and CGI the scenes were completed and Furious 7 was wrapped.

f701We spoke with a member of the production team a few months ago who told us that fans would be hard pressed to tell which scenes were Paul, and which where his brother Cody. Although they look similar, both Cody and Caleb were not direct stand ins for their brother and some Hollywood magic made it all happen. We can only assume that this film will be a huge box office success, and already people are anticipating its release. Cody and Caleb Walker helped to complete missing scenes, including many action scenes, and both have a blank role in the extended cast list on IMDB.

Some reports state that Walker’s father, Paul Walker III, had admitted in an interview that Furious 7 was to be his son’s last movie. Walker wanted to spend more time raising his daughter, Meadow, and focus more on his charity, Reach Out WorldWide. He was a big part of the franchise, and will always be missed – especially if the Fast and Furious films are to continue after Furious 7, which opens April 03, 2015. In the meantime, Walker’s family asks that people continue to contribute to ROWW in Paul’s memory.
