Many of you older gearheads may remember the Monster Miata – it’s a package designed to stuff Ford’s venerable 5.0L engine between the framerails of a Mazda Miata, and was hailed as the ultimate track car by many. 

Mallet Cars has the same type of package for the V8 Pontiac Solstice. The Solstice wasn’t ever adopted by the mainstream car community as the Miata was, but the car may perhaps be an even more complete vehicle than the Monster Miata.

The roadster used a complete set of General Motors products, including a 400-horsepower GM LS2 engine and a host of other upgrades designed to take the Solstice to new heights in the stratosphere. The manual-transmission package includes the LS2 engine, a LUK Pro Gold clutch assembly, modified/lowered shocks, performance springs, and a complete undercarriage bushing assembly designed to make the Solstice handle like it’s on rails.

New mufflers, aluminum radiator, and a number of other options are also available. There’s also an option to make the LS2 work with an automatic-transmission car (the packages are different) and includes a new custom driveshaft, billet bell housing adapter, and new upgraded torque converter and flexplate.

Mallet also offers a laundry list of potential equipment, from a supercharger kit to double-adjustable shocks, limited-slip differential, and even stroker engine and big-brake upgrades.  It’s relatively rare to see one of these machines on the street, but i you’ve got a pile of Benjamins burning a hole in your pocket and a love for the Solstice platform, it’s a worthy upgrade that’s sure to tickle your fancy.
