Video: Is This The Biggest Burnout In The World?
For years, when it came to burnout contests, our friends Down Under have ruled the roost when it comes to smoking the hides off the rear wheels. Their regular contests and tournaments to see who can put out the most smoke, and sometimes the most fire, have been all over YouTube and every other video service on the interweb.
While we’ve seen our own fair share of burnouts, some good, some great, some gone wrong, the one thing that each of these has in common is that we usually can’t get enough of them. Like snowflakes, no two burnouts are ever the same, and they fill the sky – and sometimes our lungs – with the glorious smoke that was once a set of tires.
A few months back, we brought you the official “World’s Biggest Burnout” done by none other than the Australians at their Summernats, as recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records. Their burnout, which needed to include at least 50 cars to set a point for the record, included 69 cars doing a huge simultaneous burnout and filling the sky with smoke so thick you couldn’t see the cars anymore.
But does that mean that we here in the United States need to bury our heads and accept defeat? No, we can see that 69 car feat, raise it by four more cars, and produce some smoke of our own in the video above. While it’s still the “unofficial” record for the world’s biggest burnout, we can in fact take pride that sometimes we can do things bigger than our favorite burnout lunatics down under, even if it’s just for the fun of it all. And this burnout-fest happened on the famous Hot Rod Power Tour. The stake’s been raised, Australia, are you game?
