The Trans Am in the video above that we found on Car Scoop, is actually the Hurst Edition Pontiac Trans Am designed on the fifth-generation Camaro platform by Kevin Morgan Designs and built by the Trans Am Depot.
With Pontiac gone and a determined brand following remaining, many companies looked to the modern Camaro for a base to recreate the iconic Firebird Trans Am.
Among the companies that have created a new TA, the Trans Am Depot in Tallahassee, Florida is one of the most well known as they have made several varieties of the classic muscle car and are the only company authorized to use the Trans Am name.
Among the Trans Am Depot’s creations is the Hurst Edition Trans Am designed by Kevin Morgan Designs. With classic “Smokey and the Bandit” styling, this classic recreation takes on new life with a special conversion from Hurst Performance Vehicles.
The car’s transformation from Camaro to Hurst TA is aided by a Shaker hood, Urethane front and rear fascias, an LED lights package, special Hurst Deep Dish wheels, Hurst shifter, Hurst decal package and the iconic “screaming chicken” across the hood.
The car also features a custom Hurst interior and comes with extra power options, like a supercharger or twin turbochargers for a little extra oomph.
The deep cackle of a Trans Am is unmistakable, and as you can hear in the 2012 Detroit Autorama video footage above, the Trans Am Depot has recreated the Bird’s distinct exhaust tone perfectly. Coupled with the sound of a wining supercharger, and you’ve got yourself the sound of dreams. So sit back, crank those speakers and enjoy a minute of downright bliss.
