We knew it was going to happen, we just didn’t think it would be this soon. With a tune and what appears to be few other modifications, Livernois Motorsports has propelled the EcoBoost Mustang performance into stock Mustang GT territory. They didn’t just get close either, they pretty much matched what we’ve previously seen as the baseline for the stock Mustang GT.
Livernois baselined the EcoBoost Mustang at 13.896/98.84 in the quarter-mile when the car was all stock. The video doesn’t give a baseline dyno pull, what we do get at the end of the video is a very impressive dyno sheet from this Mustang.
On the dyno, after modification, they’re showing 327.33 hp and 427.36 ft-lbs torque. That torque comes in and peaks very early in the power band, making the EcoBoost scoot through the 60 ft clocks. In fact when you break down the timeslips there’s a huge jump in the 60 ft times. Stock the car ran a 1.948 60 ft, the tuned version, wearing what appears to be better rubber went a 1.679, an improvement of nearly three-tenths.
More shocking is the final result of the video, where the EcoBoost returns to the track. Pay close attention to the inset camera on the tachometer, the EcoBoost is making steam and rolling through the revs fast. The end result is a 12.649/107.65 timeslip. That’s an improvement of 1.25 seconds in the quarter mile, nothing to turn your nose up at.
We don’t know yet if any other work was performed on the car aside from the tune and the tires. What we do know is this video demonstrates that the EcoBoost Mustang is ushering in a new era of performance, and will be out there breaking hearts for years to come.
