Where would we be without The Fast and The Furious series of movies? Well there might be fewer huge wings and oversized exhausts on import cars for one. As far as movies go though, Fast and Furious has filled a massive hole left by Hollywood when it comes to thrilling (if not completely outlandish) automotive movies. Think about it; what other car-centric films do we have to enjoy on a regular basis? Not a whole hell of a lot.

So it is with mixed feelings that we greet the trailer for the latest entry in the series, entitled simply Fast Five. One thing we can count on from this movie; lots of crazy car antics, over-the-top stunts, and plenty of asses shaking to and fro.

The plot isn’t anything impressive, and the cast is a bunch of familiar faces. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker are back, and it looks like Ludacris might have a starring role as well. New to the series is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the “bad guy” as it were hunting down the group of convicts who, it would appear, plan to pull off a large-scale heist down in Brazil using a pair of HEMI-powered Chargers. Of course, its not like they’re just breaking into any old bank; they’re breaking into a police station for $100 million.

Not a bad haul, and even though the Charger HEMI is one powerful car…we’re not sure it can pull a wall vault out like the trailer seems to imply. But hey, there are a lot of car chases, explosions, and girls shaking their asses. We think we even saw a Ford GT doing some donuts in the desert. That alone should make it worth it the price of admission. Fast Five hits theaters April 29th.
