The 5th annual Bandit Run is set to kick off from Dave Hall’s restoration business Restore a Muscle Car in Lincoln, Neb., on April 9. This year’s Bandit Run begins at Restore a Muscle Car in Lincoln and ends on April 16 at the Year One facility in Braselton, Ga. Participants from across the country, many driving their own classic Pontiac Trans Ams, are expected to join this year’s run.
Dave created the he Bandit Run in 2007 as a re-enactment of the journey portrayed in the movie “Smokey and the Bandit” and literally did drive from Texarkana, TX to Atlanta, GA. Burt Reynolds himself has endorsed the event, and the “Bandit Trans Am” created by Year One has been part of the event as well.
If you’d love to participate, but don’t have a Trans Am (or even a Pontiac), not to worry. The event is open to everyone and is now an annual traveling car show offers an opportunity for gear heads, Trans Am enthusiasts, fans of the film and more to embrace the Americana-flavored event.
Think of it as a Bandit themed version of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Best of all, a fully painted replica of the Snowman semi runs the route along with the cars! It’s enough to make us want to grow a mustache and buy a cowboy hat.
