Video: Shelby GT500, Camaro ZL-1 Battle on the Track

[1]The Ford Mustang versus Chevrolet Camaro debate is strong among car enthusiasts and we can’t have enough videos comparing the two. Now that there are two new super high-performance beasts going to head to head, the debate won’t be going away anytime soon. There’s a reason why one of these bad boys has a track record of almost 50 continuous years in production, while the other had to take a little breather to recollect itself. Despite it all, both are forces to be reckoned with when it comes to performance.

Thanks to InsideLine, we have a sweet video of the two high-performance rivals, the 2013 Shelby GT500 Mustang and it’s nemesis, the new Camaro ZL-1 both taking on the track test. With both on the pavement, the total horsepower is a combined 1,242. The grueling track test consists of braking, skid pad, quarter mile, acceleration, handling and more. Watch the video to see how it all pans out.

The results are in with The Shelby GT500 Mustang being the much quicker accelerating car despite being a little harder to launch and shift than it’s domestic rival. The Shelby GT500 took on the quarter mile in 11.9 seconds at 123.5 mph while the ZL-1 was a little slower finishing the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds at 116 mph, though we think better times could be had by both cars. Braking was also in favor of the Shelby. One thing that the ZL-1 had was handling compared to the Mustang but that’s one thing out of many. It appears that the Mustang has it in the looks department as well! Especially that drool-worthy Deep Impact Blue!
