We have fond memories from our time as children playing with toy cars of many different calibers. Whether you’re a Hot Wheels fan, played with Johnny Lightning replicas, or preferred Matchbox toys, most of us can relate to the hours of enjoyment that came from using our imagination (gasp!) to play out all sorts of vehicular-related shennaigans.
While most of us have moved on to full-size cars as our toys-of-choice, some people still hold a certain fondness for those old tiny toy cars. The producer of this stop-motion car chase called “Nitro Warriors” stars a wide variety of different diecast toy cars was certainly a fan, and now we can all relive those epic moments playing with cars thanks to this awesome video.
There isn’t much of a plot to bother with here; just a supercharged Mustang of early-70s vintage outrunning and outwitting the various toy cops in hot pursuit. The Mustang seems sure to get off the hook until it flies past a “mysterious” black Corvette police car. And then the chase is REALLY on.
While the video contains just 2 minutes and 30 seconds of action, the film reportedly took six months of filming to make right. More amazingly, the film was made using an Apple iPhone, specifically the Stop Motion HD App. That is a helluva lot of dedication to such a short film, but we think the effort was well worth it after viewing the final result.
This is definitely a nostalgia-laced film for any fans of stop-motion cinematography or old toy cars, and well worth watching. And you really, really have to stick around for the ending, it is quite…uplifting. Enjoy!
