Watching the news can be downright heartbreaking, but every so often a story comes about that completely restores your faith in humanity. Almost like a scene out of Overhaulin, a group of about 35 strangers came together to help out Iraq War veteran Kelly Foster in a way that will seriously pull on those heartstrings.
Kelly Foster bought his ’65 Ford Mustang while he was serving his first tour in Iraq. The classic 1965 Mustang sat at a local shop called Gear Jammin’ Classics where he was working on getting it restored little by little. Word got around about the veteran slowly restoring his pride and joy to Margaret Martin and her husband while they were visiting the shop to get some work done on their own vehicle.
Wanting to thank the veteran for putting his life on the line for our country, the Martins gathered about 35 of their friends to pitch in and completely restore Foster’s classic ’65 Mustang while he was away. The total cost to restore the car completely was around $20,000 and the Martins paid for almost all of it.
As soon as the classic Mustang was complete, Kelly was surprised. In the video, he thinks he is on his way to the shop to check on the old gal. Kelly had no idea that he was in for a huge surprise. Instead of seeing his rugged ’65 ‘Stang, the covers were pulled off to a beautifully restored ’65 Ford Mustang much to his surprise. Margaret said it was paying back to him for putting his life on the line.
Let’s just say faith in humanity restored.
