Video: Team Beefcake Racing’s Daily-Driven 2011 Mustang Runs 9.03

We’re all about an awesome drag-race Mustang, but this car takes that idea and raises it a notch by the virtue of its position as Terry “Beefcake” Reeves’ daily-driver. Yes, you read that right – he drives this car to and from work whenever the weather is nice, which was all five days last week. “Beef”, as he’s known by friends and foes alike, has been building this machine since the day he picked it up, and it’s currently one of the-most powerful Coyote-based powerplants we’re aware of in existence. But it’s no dyno queen, as you can see from this video Beef produced touting the car’s capabilities. It was driven over an hour each way to Edgewater Sports Park in Ohio, where he was able to click off an insane 9.03 elapsed time at almost 155 MPH!

The car has been beefed up with a multitude of aftermarket goodies, most notably the Bischoff Engine Service shortblock and Vortech JT-Trim supercharger. More power is also generated from the JPC ported heads and camshaft regrinds along with a complete JPC fuel system, while Stainless Works is on board for the full exhaust system. In order to get the power to the ground, Reeves relies on suspension mods that include Strange Engineering double-adjustable front and rear shocks, a BMR K-member in the front and Team Z Motorsports upper arm/mount assembly, lower control arms, and anti-roll bar in the rear.

The driveline has also been improved to handle the extra power, as the factory 6R80 has made a trip to Circle D Specialties in Texas for a set of has Exedy clutches to be installed. The car also has a multi-disc Circle D torque converter while the upgraded driveshaft is from The Axle Exchange. For safety purposes, he had Rogue Race Cars install a ten-point roll cage, but its clean and tidy installation is not terribly intrusive into the cabin. Finish Line Performance in Ohio handled all of the upgrades, while Jon Lund of Lund Racing set the tune on “fast”.

This really is a true street car, folks – the sun visors still operate with the cage in place, the factory air conditioning and heat remain, and the Shaker 500 sound system is considered a necessity. 3,850 pounds, a set of 275-width drag radials, and we’re knock-knock-knockin’ on the eight-second-door. What an awesome machine!
