It’s hard to write anything about the Fast and the Furious movie series without mentioning the tragic and sudden death of actor Paul Walker. Yet we also have to imagine the actor would rather us remember his life for the inspiring story it was, and all the good works he did outside of the spotlight. The Fast and the Furious, for all its over-the-top action and impossibly-absurd storylines, has given us more than a decade of automotive entertainment that keeps our passion for cars front and center.
So while we may not be able to recreate the cars or stunts seen in the movie series without a multi-million dollar budget, with a little imagination and some incredibly detailed RC cars, recreating a scene that seems ripped right from the big screen is just a YouTube upload away.
The cars used in this video are a mix of authentic to the series and what was available, though all were apparently made by Vaterra RC. The ‘69 Camaro SS RS, for example, stands in for Dominic Torretto’s Dodge Charger, though the Nissan Skyline/GT-R has appeared in various iterations throughout the series, as has the Nissan 240sx/Silvia that joins the film later.
In addition to all the filming, the video has plenty of added sound effects to give it an authentic feel. Though we insinuated this film was easy to make, in actuality it must have been a lengthy labor of love to put together, involving hours of filming and even more editing. That’s the kind of enthusiastic fanbase the Fast and the Furious has inspired.
And don’t forget to check out their follow up of how it was made, with some pretty funny outtakes below!
