It’s been two years now since Pontiac took its figurative last breath, but the dedication and enthusiasm for the cars built with the bright red arrow logo remains unaffected, especially when it comes to the Trans Am. Luckily, Trans Am fans didn’t have to see their dreams of owning a fifth-gen TA go out the window when Pontiac went under, thanks to companies like the TransAm Depot.
You’ve seen the amazing modern Trans Ams on more than one occasion from the Florida company but the design process, technology and dedication that goes into one of these cars goes beyond what you may have imagined.
Take a look at the new two-part documentary from TransAm Depot above to see what we mean.
People claim that the Camaro and Mustang were the real defining characters of the muscle car era, but for Pontiac fans, nothing came close to the Trans Am. So when GM released their renderings for a fifth-generation Camaro, rumors of a fifth-gen TA began to fly with high hopes. Unfortunately, the Pontiac brand was killed before those rumors could turn into anything more, but that didn’t stop people from dreaming.
Luckily, one of those dreamers was Kevin Morgan and his renderings of what a modern Trans Am would look like became widely known in the F-body community. It is his designs that inspired TransAm Depot to take on the task of creating a modern TA.
With the Kevin Morgan designs in mind, TransAm Depot has dedicated over four years to the modern Trans Am and they’ve sought out the best of the best to build it. Car designers, award-winning painters, race car builders, and top-notch mechanics all have a hand in the new Trans Am.
And if you think this modern muscle car is nothing more than a Camaro SS with a body kit, think again.
There will never be a factory Pontiac Trans Am again, but what TransAm Depot is offering is 10 times better. Check out part two of the mini documentary on the official fifth-gen Trans Am below.
