The past few weeks, we have been inundated with news regarding the next-generation Viper. Besides the fact that the Chrysler supercar will drop the Dodge badge in favor of an SRT emblem, we’ve also gotten two teaser shots and what could be a first look at the 2013 Viper in toy form. But just because the next Viper is just a few weeks away from its big reveal, the last Viper is still out there making a name for itself.
The Viper returned to the infamous Nurburgring with the race-only Dodge Viper ACR-X, and this time the DriveSRT team set an even faster pace, beating a record they themselves set only last year.
You may remember when Dodge took the Viper ACR to the Nurburgring, and how it dethroned the mighty Lexus LFA as the world’s fastest production car around the Green Hell. While there is always bound to be controversy when it comes to records, the Viper ACR’s time of 7 minutes and 12.13 seconds was blisteringly fast.
But not as fast as the Viper ACR-X, as it turns out. This new video shows the race-only Viper rocking the Nurburgring in just 7 minutes and 3 seconds; close to that seemingly insurmountable six-minute wall. Of course, Chrysler just set the bar even higher for the 2013 Viper, and we will be disappointed if it can’t match this level of high performance.
