Being fans of motorsports, we’re always on the lookout for something new and exciting. Modern day safety regulations have now put a damper on things to the point that although we’re now achieving speeds higher than ever, it’s almost impossible to crash.
We long for the good old days of Trans-Am racing of the late-1960′s. Where brand new pony cars would compete against one another on a race circuit, driven by the likes of Roger Penske, Mark Donohue, Parnelli Jones, Sam Posey, and Ron Bucknum.
Like the video we brought you earlier this week of the 1965 Motor Trend 500, vintage race footage depicts some of the best racing action we wish we could see today; factory bodied, production-based race cars going head-to-head. We found yet another gem of a video on that which is YouTube, in the form of this Trans Am race at Donnybrooke Speedway in 1969.
The viewer gets to look at classic Camaros, Mustangs, Javelins, Porsche 911′s and even a BMW 1600 all duking it out for the winner’s position. There’s also some footage of the pits, parking lot areas, and people in the stands. Apparently, a Trans Am series event was the place to be to see countless beautiful women as well, judging by the video.
So if you have a few minutes, check out the attached footage above, and take a take down memory lane with us. After watching it, you’ll wish you could have been there.
