The Viper 8.4 liter V10 engine is one of the most coveted powerplants on the planet. Co-designed by Lamborghini engineers, the V10 has slowly edged its horsepower from a respectable 400 horsepower when it first debuted, to over 630 horsepower in its current incantation. Of course, not every Viper V10 has stayed in a Viper chassis. We’ve been teased with a Viper V10 Challenger before it became a reality, among other creations. But what about a Chrysler 300C?
That is the question we are awaiting an answer for. Red Letter Dodge put up this video of what they claim is a Chrysler 300 powered by a Viper V10. What is the Pentastar up to now?
Just a few weeks ago, Chrysler released details on its latest Drag Pak Challenger. Formerly powered by a 392 HEMI crate engine, the Drag Pak now has a Viper V10 under the hood. The 8.4 liter engine makes 600 horsepower and 560 ft-lbs of torque mated to a two-speed transmission. Of course, that is a purpose-built drag racing car. The Chrysler 300 is more refined, more luxurious… So what is a V10 engine doing under the hood?
The video gives us precious few details, save for an SRT-10 badge and a quick little run across the parking lot. Is this a car Chrysler is seriously considering selling? Or is it just a side project for some seriously depraved gearheads? We don’t know, though we’ve got the feeling this isn’t the last we’ll hear of the V10 300.
