Watch Out Mopar: Hellcat Killer Is Aiming To Take You Down. Or Not.

cv525-01As enthusiasts, sometimes we have to respect and admire a custom build that someone else put together, and reward them with the proverbial golf-clap for coming up with something entirely different and unique. And then there are times where we just have to ask more questions and get more information before we believe all of the claims the builder makes.

In the 1970s, when the only real bolt on performance parts were headers, exhaust, intakes, and carburetors, we were sure that flipping the lid on our air cleaner netted us at least a few ponies. Our ass-dynos usually were pretty well dialed in, and the audible difference that emanated from that big air pump under the hood was further confirmation that we were more powerful.

Today, there are more readily available components to bolt onto a car for increased power, including tuning systems and EFI conversions. Bolt-on turbochargers and superchargers are the big power-adders that turn a cruiser into a beast, and allow us to finally conquer the neighbor’s Prius to the end of the block.

And then… we have the Craigslist special. A #37 of 10, triplecharged 2009 Shelby Crown Victoria Super Snake (CV525) with the “mustang cobra 4.6/5.4 to xxx hp triplecharged 6.7 liter”. What we find really interesting about this car is the rumor that ten cars were produced in 2006, according to Autospies, with the last one rolling off the line in October. So how could there be a 2009? Well, perhaps the answer lies in the continued rumors of this car being built in 2007 and 2008.

cv525-04Claims made by the seller of this beastly Crown Vic include: 24-inch Ford Racing approved tires, 4.11:1 gear ratio, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, 11.3 seconds in the quarter – crossing the traps at 136.4, and a top speed of 213 mph – besting the Hellcat Charger’s wimpy 204 mph. But then there’s the home theather [sic] speaker system, which kills it for us. So it’s yours for the taking, only 45,000 smackers.

Of course, we especially love the “Sex-Cloggin’ Widebody” that adorns this unicorn, and the exclusive 1970s Chevy horn pad wheels. Shame that our Craigslist used car salesman didn’t bother to show us this triplecharged engine. That would be so dope, yo.

All we can say about this car is to be very careful which forums you frequent, because sharing pics of this beastly Hellcat Killer and calling it the “Shelby CV525” could land you in Banville, USA. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
