Will 2015 See The Return Of The Dodge Stealth?

stealth02We have it on good authority that the concept pictures you see here are that of the 2015 Dodge Stealth concept. Designed by Fiat partner Pininfarina S.p.A., the new Stealth is said to have some decent power under the hood with the optional a twin-turbo V-6 with all-wheel-drive; standard power will come from an economic in-line 4-cylinder.

stealth03Recalling the Dodge Stealth of the early to mid 1990s, the concept is closer to the original car from that period, and more in line with the performance drive that Ma Mopar has developed lately, what with the Corvette spanking the Viper at Laguna Seca, and the re-release of the new Z-28 Camaro, introduced at the New York Auto Show.

Word has it that even Ralph Gilles will have his SRT brand lend a hand and a possible 392 HEMI might find it’s way under the hood of the all-wheel-drive version. Some say that Gilles took the Laguna Seca loss to heart, hence the Viper TA, and now his plans for a HEMI Stealth, dubbed the SRT Stealth AFJ. The only color option thus far is the “Model A” offering: you can have any color just as long as it’s black.

stealth01Interior options include a heads-up display that will provide all vital engine functions on the windscreen, along with navigational information. Optional with the full audio/video system will be a rear view monitor, likely to show you the middle-digit of the driver from the supercar du jour that you just passed. It leaves us to wonder, with all this information and video being displayed on the windscreen at one time, will this be a distraction for the driver or a benefit?

We like the idea of bringing the Dodge Stealth back and that the HEMI is an optional powerplant of the SRT Stealth AFJ, but if you fell for this April Fool’s joke you really shouldn’t feel too bad. The car pictured is actually the 2012 Dino concept from Dodge’s parent company, Fiat. Please feel free to share this with any and all friends… and have a laugh on us!
