A lot of things are changing in the Mustang world, although some things have just been reinvented and brought back to life. According to Autoweek, Shelby American might just have a few surprises up their sleeves for the 50th Anniversary next year. One of those surprises may be the return of the Rent-A-Racer program which allows enthusiasts to rent a Shelby at different Hertz car rental outlet locations.

The Shelby GT-H will be based off of the 2012 Mustang GT likely sport the traditional black and gold paint scheme with white and gold as another option. Of course, the Shelby GT-H will have a body kit and feature some Shelby 19″ wheels for appearance purposes. When it comes to performance, it will use the Ford Racing performance package that features a cold air induction kit and exhaust system giving the 5.0L a little more horsepower.

This program first started back in 1966 when Shelby and Hertz teamed up to rent out 1,000 GT-H Mustangs. The program then reappeared back in 2006 when Ford and Hertz teamed up together to release an updated version of the GT-H with 325 hp out of the 4.6L V8 engine. Although nothing is confirmed as of yet, the possibility of this program making a comeback is there and they will likely keep the GT-H moniker. Shelby Mustangs have not been readily available to rent out, but Hertz has released a similar program called the Adrenalin Collection which includes the 2011 Mustang GT out of the fleet of cars.
