What do you get when you combine custom hot rods and classic cars with huge car events? The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association [3]of course! But Goodguys does more than just put on fantastic car events. They also give away a car every year. Earlier this month, the winner of the 2011 Grand Prize Giveaway was announced, giving 23-year-old Janine Lietz of Palos Park, Illinois a holiday gift to remember; a 2011 Mustang GT.
The 2011 Mustang is the second Mustang Goodguys [4] has given away in the last two years. Last year, Goodguys gave away a ‘70 Boss Snake, a custom designed muscle car based on the only two QuarterHorse Mustang concept cars ever built. This year, the hot rod and custom car association decided to go modern with their Grand Prize Giveaway.
Lietz has always been into performance vehicles, so winning a modern Mustang was right up her alley. When the folks at Goodguys called her to tell her of her winnings, she told them “It’s awesome. I’ve been counting down the days to the drawing ever since I entered the contest. Thank you Goodguys!”
Previously, Lietz has owned a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 and a ‘10 Dodge Challenger SRT8. While her previous performance vehicles have been of the Dodge brand, we have a feeling Lietz will thoroughly enjoy her new pony.
Lietz’s new Mustang is a GT, so it sports a 5.0L 32-valve V8 engine capable of 412hp and 390lb.-ft. of torque. The silver 5.0 also features a six-speed manual transmission and leather performance bucket seats.
Lietz was picked randomly from a pool of over 45,000 contest entries. She filled out her winning entry form at the Goodguys Chicagoland Nationals held in August at the Chicagoland Speedway. Because her and her boyfriend had so much fun at that event, they also attended the Goodguys 1st WIX Filters Speedway Nationals at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where her boyfriend proposed.
