This lonely Vette is just looking for what everyone wants–a loving place to call home. Can you help? Every lonely Corvette should have a place to call home, with loving parents that care for it. This poor C1 Corvette, a 1957 fuelie, one of only 713 fuel-injected cars produced that year, was a beautifully restored example of the C1 in the spring of this year.

All things considered, it's not as bad as it looks or could have been.

However, a freak dashboard fire almost completely charred it, leaving the unfortunate wreck we see today. Normally, this wouldn’t be newsworthy, even for diehard Corvette enthusiasts. However, the owner has decided he just can’t restore it again. Instead of scrapping it and that being the end of the story, however, he’s decided to put it up for sale on eBay.

Sure it's pretty torched now, but the wheels and tires, plus the hubcaps are all pristine still.

Other than the visible fire damage, the owner assures us that everything else is in good shape. He did say that the trunk lid and hood were damaged beyond any hope of repair and have been tossed. According to the owner, the doors both open and close fine and the seat frames and springs are still in excellent shape.

Besides being one of the rare fuelie Vettes from that time-frame, it also has the distinction of being one of the only 664 Vettes made that year with the optional four-speed trans and Positraction rearend. The car has apparently never been in an accident (except this fire) and there is no rust on the frame whatsoever. The owner claims that when completed (again) the car should be able to fetch close to $100k at auction.

It's a face only a mother, or a true Corvette-lover could love, now.

The drivetrain is still cherry on this baby. The fuel-injected engine is a 283 ci that was advertised as putting out 283 hp and it even turns over, although the owner has refused to see if it still starts. The radiator is even still full of clean coolant. The motor number is F507EL which matches with the correct block number of 3731548. He’s asking less than $35k for it and, to be honest, it looks like an excellent project car for someone.

UPDATE: Apparently the auction has ended and the car sold for $34,889.
