The aftermarket parts industry is worth many billions of dollars to the American economy, providing restoration experts and amateur hobbyists with all the parts they need to pull together a project. Year One is one of the best-known parts warehouses for a wide variety of classic American muscle cars and trucks, and as you can imagine they have access to all the parts needed to build a badass vehicle.

Year One’s latest project is a 1969 Ford Mustang Sportroof, and work is already well under way. Retaining a clean, classic look while meshing together a modern drivetrain, this project Mustang holds a lot of promise.

You may not know it by looking at it, but Project Sportroof (as we’ll be calling it) wears custom front and rear valences along with tucked bumpers. A clean, crisp white paint job will help maintain the classic looks, though the interior and drivetrain will be anything but dated.

Under the hood goes a 5.4 liter supercharged GT500 V8 backed by a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. The archaic suspension gets replaced by a Griggs setup front and back, while big Baer brakes with 14-inch rotors and six-piston calipers up front provide a ton of stopping power. The rear wheel-wells have even been mini-tubbed to fit massive 345 tires.
