Actor and singer Zac Efron is no Steve McQueen. The Hollywood heartthrob got his big break in Disney’s High School Musical movie, which hopefully none of our readers have had to endure. More recently, Efron starred opposite Seth Rogen in the R-rated comedy Neighbors and even shares the screen with Robert DeNiro in the just-released Dirty Grandpa.
When he’s not busy making moves in Hollywood though, Efron has apparently kept busy by restoring his grandfather’s 1965 Ford Mustang. The actor posted several pictures of the Mustang to his Instagram, though he hasn’t been forthcoming about details on the classic car.
Saying only that it took two years to restore, Efron didn’t clarify whether he restored the car himself, or had it professionally done. We like to think the actor did the work himself between sets, as two years is a long time for any shop to take to restore a car as popular as the Mustang. Then again, it could very well have been a pro job that Efron only just got around to picking up.
Efron is actually a car aficionado it seems though, as the actor has been caught checking out other classic cars at lots across California. He comes from a family of engineers, so his love of all things automotive isn’t exactly surprising. Like many A-listers, he keeps a stable of luxury cars like the Audi S5 on hand as well, but restoring his grandfather’s Mustang actually makes the High School Musical star a bit more endearing to us. He may not be Steve McQueen, but at least he’s got good taste.
