The Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine just sold on eBay for $19,100, it was built from a ’66 A100 Dodge van for Hanna-Barbera to promote the debut of the Scooby-Doo Show in 1969.
The van is a standard 90-inch wheelbase model that was customized and painted to match the cartoon version of the Mystery Machine. Everything including the interior was painted with bold panel inserts and orange shag carpet throughout.
The 1966 vintage van had its 273 V8 rebuilt and it still has the original 3-speed manual transmission, all in great running condition for its new owner.
Prior to its sale the Volo Auto Museum had it in their possession, check them out as they have quite a few celebrity cars and they sell some of the nicest cars in the country when it comes to classics, muscle cars, and antiques.
The museum listed the van on eBay under their seller account to make sure that it got a lot more exposure than just the traffic that went through the museum. Along with the Mystery Machine the new owner gets all the documentation and the original bills to Hanna-Barbera for the customization that was performed on the van.
We don’t know what the new owner has planned for the iconic van, but one thing is for sure, it will put a smile on the face of everyone that sees it, bringing back some great childhood memories.
